In it’s 2nd year MN4MN Blank Canvas premiers at Public Functionary Friday, September 23rd 2016.
Minneapolis, MN—(August 11, 2016). MN4MN Blank Canvas 2016 explores the intersection of art, design, fashion and photography by featuring a curated selection of Minnesota’s best artists, photographers, models and local fashions in a unique collaboration.
The inaugural Blank Canvas 2015 project presented art as function and fashion as art by challenging artists and photographer to re-create a simple pair of white PF Flyer sneakers. Blank Canvas 2016 continues this tradition with another everyday item as a canvas: a motorcycle helmet. Artist, photographer and model collaborate to re-imagine the helmet from an essential safety accessory into a medium for artistic inspiration, the process of art and craft informs the creation of fashion.

MN4MN is a movement built on the following goals. One is to support and showcase Minnesota companies, boutiques, and designers. Second, to curate an environment that is nurturing and supportive of emerging Minnesota designers. Third, to earn a place at the table in the fashion and design community as leaders to then work on making the community an inclusive entity. Lastly, to bring these efforts full circle by creating a viable MN4MN marketplace giving the designers the opportunity to present their collections for wholesale purchase by local and regional boutiques. We’re not just about an event—we’re more than that. www.mn4mn.com
